about laid back festival
In 2015, Gregg Allman and his longtime manager Michael Lehman partnered with Live Nation to create the inaugural Laid Back Festival. Headlined by Gregg Allman, the one-day event took place on August 29th, 2015 at New York's Jones Beach Theater with an incredible line-up including The Doobie Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, City of the Sun and others.
Named after Gregg Allman's classic 1973 solo debut, Laid Back Festival is much more than just a concert. Laid Back Festival is an extraordinary one-day event that also celebrates diverse American food and drink with regional restaurants, food trucks, breweries, wineries, and other artisans represented at each festival stop.
On the heels of the success of the 2015 festival, Laid Back expanded to 5 cities in 2016. Again, headlined by Gregg Allman the festival saw timeless performances from Allman, ZZ Top, Jason Isbell, Peter Frampton, Shovels and Rope, Blackberry Smoke, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, Mother’s Finest, Marshall Tucker Band, Michelle Malone, Devon Allman, Gabriel Kelley, and many more.
Laid Back has proven an indisputable success, with New Jersey's Asbury Park Press declaring it "a crowd-pleasing blend of classic rock along with food and spirits."
With the passing of festival co-founder, Gregg Allman on May 27, 2017, the Laid Back Festival will continue in 2017 In The Spirit Of Gregg Allman. Headliners for the initial 2017 festival dates include longtime friends of Gregg’s such as Jackson Browne, Steve Winwood, Steven Van Zandt, Sheryl Crow, Peter Wolf, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and others.
